Thala guli/kerali is delicious traditional Sri-Lankan delicacy made with two ingredients, sesame as well as palm sugar. It is shaped as a ball or a tube.
Very easy to make, only takes 15min.
Ingredients
• Sesame seeds 150g
• Coconut kithul juggery 100g
(Remember the taste depends on the quality of juggery you choose) always use the best quality you can get.
Method
Divide the sesame seeds into two halves. (75g each)
Grind one half of the 75g sesame seeds into a fine powder in a food processor or grinder.
Scrape the jaggery. Grind juggary onto the second half of sesame seeds. Add both ingredients gradually and in layers. Grind or hand mix until the two ingredients are mixed together well. Add this mixture to the first half of powdered sesame seeds and mix well.
Use a smallest PVC pipe 4'6' as a mold and shape the pieces of thala. 👇
In my case i use my hands and a chopping board to roll into shape. Cut into desire size and wrap & decorate as desired.
