Fish filling

For patties/pastries/buns/bread/sandwiches


Ingredients

1 can of fish (Glenryck Pilchards in Brine or mackerel/tuna) or any meat or vegetable.

250g potatoes (boiled and mashed)

2 red bombay onions thinly sliced or chopped

oil/ghee as needed for stir fr.

Spring of curry leaves

2 tbs mustard seeds

1/2 crushed garlic

salt to your taste

1 tsp of freshly grounded black pepper

1/2 tsp chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric

10 green chillies (according t your spice level

1/2 hot scotch bonnet

1/2 lime

Method


Heat some oil in a pan a the mustard seeds and crush it with a spoon like in the video below 👇

(by doing so it releases lot of flavour’s into the dish)

Now add the garlic,scotch bonnet,curry leafs,onion and stir fry till it becomes golden.

Add the all the spices (salt,pepper,chilli,turmeric) and mix well. Now add the fish and mix and fry a little. Add the mash potatoes and mix thoroughly.

finally add the chopped green chillies and lime and mix well. Now it’s ready to use in your pastries. (Ideas on what you can use this filling in, checkout my other posts such as Patties and fish bun)
